courses in animation

1) Do I need to have a drawing and Sketching hand for the Animation course? OR I am not from the Fine Arts background? Is it ok?
A) Yes, it is OK if you do not have a “drawing and sketching” background. The course depends upon the creativity of an individual and everybody basically is gifted with a creative mind. We will help you channelize and focus this mindset. Also, the basic module of all our courses includes classes for drawing and sketching, and you will find that the teaching and assignments are especially helpful for even those with no previous drawing experience.

2) What should be the pre-requisite educational qualification for the courses or what is the eligibility?

A) This field depends entirely upon an individual’s creativity and potential; therefore anyone interested can visit the institute to discuss his/ her options of joining the courses. It is also possible to take up short courses like web design during your summer vacation if you are still at school.

3) I know many programming languages and software. Why do I need to enrol myself in a course?

A) In order to become a professional of international quality and standing in the industry, you need more than software skills. In essence, having software skills is the same as having typing skills, it does not make you a writer, only a stenographer. In order to become an Industry professional, you need to understand about the pre production stages very well, that is the idea and its proper expression. Getting the first step right is the key. The technical expertise will help translate this dream into reality.

4) Does this field have an “International Market”?
A) The field of Animation, Gaming and VFX is a fully grown industry in the International Market, such as USA, UK and Canada, while the Indian Animation Industry is comparatively in its nascent stage. The International Market continues to grow, even during recession, and there is a constant demand for qualified professionals.

5) People keep talking of Animation as a great career option but we have not heard of many Animated movies being very successful in India.
A) Many people believe that Animation is only animated movies such as those produced in Hollywood. The reality is that animation is part of all forms of media and communication today and has diverse applications. Apart from the entertainment industry, education, design, engineering, print, even pharmaceuticals and sales all require animation.
For example, even the weather forecast we see on news channels is essentially a greenscreen. So if you are interested in being an animator, you need not worry about not getting work.
Of course, the Indian movie industry is also growing, and eventually we will have successful movies like those in Hollywood. Also, many Hollywood movies, in the form of outsourcing, get their work done in India.

6) What is the job guarantee if the institute is not affiliated to an International University? Is it important?
A) In the case of the Animation Industry, just like any other artistic or creative field, your merit is judged by the quality of the work you are capable of producing, that is your portfolio or show reel. The marks you secure or your ranking in the class is irrelevant to the employer. In this sense, for those who feel like they cannot confirm to typical classroom teaching and the rat race, this is an ideal career path. You should choose the institute based on the course curriculum, student feedback, and the work they produce. Also, being taught by members of standing in both the local and international markets will ensure that your work is of the highest quality, something which cannot be guaranteed by affiliation also.
